The Insurrection

by Grayson Lewis (staff writer)

After the horrendous events that occurred at the United States’ Capitol building on January 6th, it was quite obvious that Trump was to blame for the insurrection. With a series of Twitter posts and phrases of approval, it was clear that former U.S. President Donald Trump was responsible for the terrifying and traumatizing “rebellion.” After constantly stating that immense voter fraud was the reason for his election loss, he inspired his supporters to go above and beyond by storming the building while Congress was in session! Not only that, but representatives like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez had near death conspiracies, and Bonnie Watson-Coleman had tested positive for COVID-19. The insurrection was terrifying, unjust, provoked by a poor excuse of a President, and extremely twisted.

Trump was responsible for every single thing that happened that day, and that is no surprise. His cult-like supporters are notorious for taking up white supremacist causes, and using violence to try and reverse things they don’t agree with. After everything on January 6th, the nation agreed that Trump needed to be impeached once again. He only had 13 days left in office, so many thought it was a useless move, but there was some purpose behind the notion. Though one can only be successfully removed from office if convicted by the Senate, it was too late to physically remove him, because the Senate can’t complete the trials in just 7 days. If Trump was successfully impeached a second time, then he wouldn’t be able to run for President. Trump being in a position of power has only inspired violence and hatred, and an incitement of insurrection is against the constitution.
